Detectives from the Law and Order section arrested Matemadanda soon after Mahiya was granted bail after being picked up by the police last Wednesday and accused of insulting or undermining the authority of the president.
The once fiercely-loyal supporters of President Robert Mugabe last month issued a statement in which they accused him of being a dictator.
In the past war vets were accused of orchestrating violence during election time to prop up the 92 year old president who has been in power since 1980.
Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights is providing the lawyers to represent the two war vets.
