It’s significance is in what it represents. It represents a rapport among opposition leaders which most Zimbabweans yearn to witness.

The quagmire we find ourselves in is not going to be unpacked and dealt with effectively if we only focus on Mr. Mugabe and his failed ZANU PF. That is just one side, a coin has two sides.

As far as projecting and navigating the way forward is concerned, the opposition landscape is critical.

For a long time, Mr. Mugabe and his minions have capitalised on the disunity radiated in the opposition. Infact, his system sponsors it. The opposition is fragmented and confused. We must deal with that if we are to entertain hopes of decapitating this monster called ZANU PF.

I always state that Zimbabwe’s problems are political and so are the solutions. Our quest is that of migrating from one order to another. The current political order must be replaced. That’s why we need a solid, united opposition.
Why the opposition must unite?
1. ZANU PF is a monster. It’s a deeply entrenched, sophisticated and well oiled system that has been built in a period of over 36 years. Most citizens and even the opposition underestimate the power of this monster we are confronting. To defeat this monster, the opposition must fight from one corner.

2. If we get to 2018 before anything defining happens, none of the current opposition leaders shall win outrightly in the 2018 elections. Why? Votes will be split among them and none of them will get more than 51% of the votes. A consensus is needed.

3. It’s not about their parties but about Zimbabwe. It’s unfortunate that most Zimbabwean politicians find themselves raptured in the dangerous combination of impoverished and yet inflated egos. The citizens must not allow them to get away with it. They must put the nation ahead of their personal and partisan agendas for victory to be attained.

It is with that in mind and also informed by hindsight that a picture such as this one has a positive ripple effect. It gives Zimbabweans hope that opposition politicians will find each other and fight from one corner. They must.

Let’s show them how much we want them to unite by liking.
